A British novelist and former spy.
British novelist John Le Carré is a master storyteller. A former spy for both MI5 and MI6, he know his business when he writes about the secret worlds of espionage. Some novels are unrelated, others have the protagonist George Smiley in common. Having written about 25 novels and various shorter pieces, he has been extremely productive. Some of my favourites include the following:
A great way to get to know his work is also via the numerous adaptations for the screen. There has been a great number of them, and le Carré himself has been involved in screenwriting and producing in some cases. Some of the best adaptations include:
The Night Manager (2016) with Hugh Laurie, Elizabeth Debicki and Tom Hiddleston
Our Kind of Traitor (2016) with Ewan MacGregor, Naomie Harris and Stellan Skarsgard
A Most Wanted Man (2014) with Philip Seymour Hofmann, Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011) with Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch
The Constant Gardener (2005) with Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz
